September 4-6, 2015: 31st Annual Gloucester Schooner Festival
Organized by the Gloucester Schooner Festival Committee and Maritime Gloucester, this annual celebration of schooners of all shapes and sizes is a treat for all to see and experience, in beautiful Gloucester, America's oldest fishing port.

July 1, 2010, Rocky Neck -- Night on the Neck Neck event, Gloucester, at Sailor Stan's. John spoke on his 10 years of research into Gloucester’s fishing history, a project sparked by a personal quest to learn more about his grandfather, a doryman who was lost at sea.  

July 8, 2010: Talk on Disasters at Sea -- Taken from "Alone at Sea" sponsored by the Hull Lifesaving Museum.  This was part of a Free Summer Lecture Series.  Co-sponsored with the Friends of the Hull Public Library and the Department of Conservation and Recreation at the Mary Jeanette Murray Bathhouse, 204 Nantasket Av, Hull, Ma.

August 19, 2010: A Talk in the Schooner Adventure Lecture Series drawing on material from Alone at Sea at the
The Gloucester Lyceum and Sawyer Free Library, Gloucester. John discussed  "Schooner Races of the 1920s Between Gloucester and Nova Scotia."   For more information, call the Schooner Adventure at 978-281-8079 or email jsouza@schooner-adventure.org.

September 4, 2010: John participated in a talk and book signing  at the Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center, 23 Harbor Loop, Gloucester. The title of this talk was:   "Losses at Sea -- the danger to the dorymen and the hearbreak to those left behind."  For more information, call the Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center at 978-281-0470.

September 8, 2010: John spoke about "Alone at Sea" at the   Manchester-By-The-Sea, Public Library, 15 Union St, Manchester, MA.

September 21, 2010: John spoke about "Aone at Sea" at the Abbott Public Library, 235 Pleasant St, Marblehead, MA.  

October 13, 2010: John spoke about "Alone at Sea" at the Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfondland, St. John's, Newfoundland. 

October 14, 2010: John gave a talk and  book signing at Chapters Book Store, St. John's, Newfoundland.  He discussed the migration of Newfoundland fishermen to Gloucester. 

October 19, 2010:  John gave a talk on "How the Gloucester schooner fishermen of old reacted to changes in fish stocks" at the Paul Pratt Memorial Library. 35 Ripley Road, Cohasset.

November 8, 2010: John gave a talk on Disasters at Sea -- Taken from "Alone at Sea:  Gloucester in the Age of the Dorymen" at thLangley-Adams Library.  185 Main Street, Groveland, Ma. Morris autographed copies of Alone at Sea, and  proceeds went to the Schooner Adventure

January 15, 2011:  John discussed researching "Alone at Sea:  Gloucester in the Age of the Dorymen (1623-1939)" at the Cape Ann Museum, 27 Pleasant St, Gloucester.
